The Five-Tournament Masters 1000 Run

Sinner's spring changed the scale of the season. He won Indian Wells and Miami without dropping a set, becoming the first man since Roger Federer in 2017 to complete the Sunshine Double. He then changed surfaces and beat Alcaraz in the Monte-Carlo final.

Madrid made him the first player in Masters 1000 history to win five consecutive events at the level, counting Paris at the end of 2025. Rome completed the 2026 sweep of the first five Masters and gave him the Career Golden Masters: at least one title at all nine Masters 1000 tournaments.

Only Novak Djokovic had previously completed the Career Golden Masters. Sinner did it at 24, at home in Italy, while becoming the first Italian men's champion in Rome since Adriano Panatta in 1976.

Sinner's 2026 Grand Slam Results

The major season has been less linear than the six trophies suggest. Djokovic stopped Sinner in the Australian Open semifinals, and Juan Manuel Cerúndolo ended his 29-match winning streak in the second round of Roland-Garros. Those are two of his three completed-match losses all year.

Wimbledon was the response. Sinner survived a five-set first round, beat Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinal, and recovered from losing the first-set tiebreak against Zverev in the final. The title was his second consecutive Wimbledon and fifth major overall.

Why Sinner Is World No. 1

Sinner began his 81st career week at No. 1 on 20 July, moving into the all-time top ten for weeks at the top of the ATP rankings. After Wimbledon, he held a 4,970-point lead over No. 2 Alexander Zverev.

The lead is not built on one result. Masters 1000 titles deliver 1,000 ranking points each, Wimbledon delivers 2,000, and his five-event Masters sweep replaced or added high-value results across hard courts and clay. That mix makes the ranking harder to attack than a lead resting on one surface.

What Is Jannik Sinner's Next Tournament?

Sinner's next entered tournament is the National Bank Open in Montreal, whose main draw runs from 2–13 August. The official entry list names him as world No. 1, and the tournament reports a 44–3 season record after Wimbledon.

Montreal begins the North American hard-court swing and offers a sixth Masters 1000 title of the season. Sinner won this Canadian event in 2023, the first Masters trophy of his career. His appearance remains subject to the normal possibility of a late withdrawal, so the final draw and order of play are the last confirmation.

After Canada, the season builds toward Cincinnati and the US Open. Sinner is already on the official US Open entry list; the New York main draw begins on 30 August, one year after he reached the final.

The Records Still Available in 2026

A Montreal title would give Sinner six Masters 1000 trophies in one season, matching Djokovic's ATP record from 2015. A US Open title would give him two majors in 2026 and six for his career. The ranking lead also gives him a strong path toward another year-end No. 1 finish.
