The ingredients are old. Tennis whites date to the Victorian lawn parties that gave Wimbledon its dress code; the polo shirt was invented by a tennis player — René Lacoste — in the 1920s; and the 1970s and 80s gave the sport its sun-faded, terry-cloth, headband era that vintage mood boards still mine today. The current wave crested when tennis returned to the cultural centre — a new generation of photogenic champions, film moments like Challengers, and a post-2020 appetite for clean, outdoorsy nostalgia. Search interest in 'tenniscore' has never really gone back down.

Tenniscore is easy to recognise because its palette is so disciplined.

Tenniscore vs. preppy

The two overlap, but they are not the same. Preppy is a whole collegiate wardrobe; tenniscore is tighter — it always references the court. If there is no racket, no court line, no ball in the frame, it's just knitwear. The sport is the point: tenniscore borrows tennis's built-in tension between effort and elegance, sweat and whites.
